IN THE CITY FOR THE CITY

Mobilizing young people for city transformation

"IT BURSTED MY BUBBLE!"

My heart has been broken several times over the course of these three weeks. I am leaving with an overwhelming sense of duty but also an immense amount of hope I saw the Lord show up time and time again. I saw Jesus show up as I comforted and shared the Gospel with a woman whose son had been shot the day before she met me and was fleeing for safety. For the first time in my life I saw reconciliation between white and black friends as we served Jesus alongside each other.

“Over the years being involved in student ministry in our church or in campus ministry, we had never been prepared to do real-life ministry outside of the reality of our campus world. This summer project is the very first time we have experienced the reality of ministry in the city which is gonna be our future environment.”

IN THE CITY FOR THE CITY

During the month of the project we take students out of their “green house” environment (protected, controlled, artificial, temporary campus-life) and introduce them to the reality of mission in the city, which is like an “open field” (chaotic, uncontrollable, yet that is their permanent future).

In the City for the City is a three prong strategic initiative to develop and mobilize young leaders for the work of city transformation through city gospel movements utilizing Summer Missions, an Intern-Fellowship Program and Campus Ministry Alumni Mobilization.
